Journal 6: Grendel's Mother

Grendel is an evil, bloodthirsty monster so one can only imagine what conceived such a treacherous villain. Grendel’s mother is just as bad as her son. Her claws are sharper the sharpest blades and longer than branches of a tree.
She can slice through a tree without the slightest effort. Her claws are stronger than the hardest metals known to man. With her bare hands, she can pulverize an entire boulder. She puts more fear into men than Grendel ever could. She is as fastest as a lightning. In one instant, Grendel was able to kill and snatch thirty men. His mother can kill 100 men with the blink of an eye. Her speed can not be matched by any mortal man except the mighty Beowulf. When she screeches, it can be heard for miles, and men feel such pain as they have never felt. Her screech can crack glass and bust the ear drums of animals. With her horrible blood-curling scream she can paralyze her prey with fear. Men pray to God when they hear her scream, for they know that death is upon them.


Not many know what she looks like because if anyone is that close they are usually dead within seconds. However, it is rumored that her skin if filled with warts and blisters. Her skin can scrape the very stone of any castle floor or wall. It is so rough and hard that no sword can pierce it. Her putrid stench can be smelled from hundreds of feet. It is smells like rotting flesh and feces. Her stench can cause her prey to faint from lack of oxygen. Nothing is worse than her eyes; they are like two hot red coals. They glow with the hate and anger at every living thing. Her gaze can burn through wood and cause her prey to die from fright. Once anyone gazes into those eyes, he/she is lost forever. Rumors have been heard that there are people who have witnessed her eat, and after seeing it, they can speak of nothing but what they saw. People say that her eating is such a horrid sight that it leaves people insane. Some claim that with her barbed tongue she licks the skin of her prey, and then begins to devour all the flesh leaving just the bones. She takes the bones and crunches each one; many claim she enjoys hearing the sound of bones crunch under her black crooked teeth.

What frightens people the most is her stealth. No one knows when or where she will attack. She strikes in the night when people cannot see. She is so stealthy that she can sneak up on a group of people facing in every direction. She can sneak into the middle of them and kill every single one before anyone realizes what happened. In fact, she once murdered an entire village under protection of an army. The sentries did not even notice until the next day when they found the mutilated bodies. Grendel’s mother is a horrible, hell-spawned monster who is the embodiment of evil.
